Position Description
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences' mission is to excel in the areas of patient care, physician education, and clinical research. We accomplish this mission with a variety of fellowship trained subspecialties unmatched in our region working with optometrist, comprehensive ophthalmologist as well as clinical researchers.
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences provides informed and compassionate care for a variety of vision and eye conditions, including adult and pediatric retina, glaucoma, cataracts, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, external eye diseases, and emergency services. Additionally we offer high quality and personalized LASIK and refractive surgery, as well as a full range of optometry services including contact lenses and eyeglasses.
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences provides informed and compassionate care for a variety of vision and eye conditions, including adult and pediatric retina, glaucoma, cataracts, cornea, neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, external eye diseases, and emergency services. Major/Essential Functions
- Conduct exams, diagnose and treat eye disorders and track progress.
- Educate children and parents on eye health and preventive care.
- Perform pediatric ophthalmology surgical procedures to correct congenital, developmental or traumatic eye conditions.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including multidisciplinary teams, to manage eye-related issues in children.
- Prepares and completes timely and accurate documentation for medical records.
- Participates in the training and education of learners including medical students and residents.
Occasional Duties
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or Foreign Medical Equivalent Degree.
- Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3.
- Completion of an Ophthalmology Residency.
- Completion of, or in the process of completing, a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology.
