Summary
AMA provides technical support to the U.S. Army’s Technology Development Directorate (TDD) at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This work supports the development, application, and advancement of high-fidelity modeling and simulation tools used in Army rotorcraft acquisition programs, both Future Vertical Lift (FVL) and enduring fleet upgrades.
Work location will be at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
Pay for this position is approximately $95,000- $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience, and includes a competitive benefits package.
Responsibilities:
- Experience developing flight-dynamics models for crewed and uncrewed VTOL aircraft
- Experience supporting FLRAA or other advanced rotorcraft development programs
- Knowledge of physics-based rotorcraft and tiltrotor modeling techniques
- Experience with HeliUM or comparable comprehensive rotorcraft modeling tools
- Experience developing high-order linear aircraft models
- Knowledge of frequency-domain system identification techniques using CIFER
- Experience supporting UH-60 aircraft modeling, simulation, or analysis efforts
- Experience with software development, source code modification, and validation testing
- Ability to validate flight-dynamics models using flight-test data
- Experience participating in technical reviews and multidisciplinary engineering meetings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver technical presentations and reports
Required Qualifications:
- MS in Aeronautics or Aerospace Engineering
- 2+ years of experience in rotorcraft flight-dynamics modeling as part of research projects and activities (not coursework alone) is required.
- A candidate with a BS degree having had direct research experiencewill be considered.
Desired Qualifications:
- Direct research experience (not coursework alone) with flight-dynamics models such as HeliUM, GenHel, FORECAST, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Direct research experience (not training alone) with frequency-domain system identification for linear model development using tools such as CIFER is highly desirable.
- Education or relevant experience in the following areas would be a plus: rotorcraft real-time simulation; system modeling using Simulink.
- Software skills desirable: FORTRAN, C, MATLAB, Simulink.
