HOURLY - LIQUID WASTE DISPOSAL ATTENDANT

The Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts is now recruiting for a part-time position located at the Pomona Water Reclamation Plant within our Wastewater Management Department. The essential function of this position is to m onitor the offloading and handling of liquid waste at a disposal station.

The work schedule is as follows: Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (10 hours) and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (8 hours).

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Greeting liquid waste transporters
  
• Maintaining a daily log of transporters disposing of liquid waste at the station
  
• Using a desktop computer to input data and to email reports
  
• Verifying information and payment fees on Uniform Sewage Manifest forms
  
• Visually inspecting liquid waste loads
  
• Collecting liquid waste samples and performing simple tests to screen for unacceptable wastes
  
• Preparing weekly and monthly liquid waste disposal summaries
  
• Completing forms
  
• Preparing samples for further analysis
  
• Cleaning up and maintaining the station
  
• Opening and closing, and providing general on-site security of the station
  
• Performing related duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any amount of experience which provides the knowledge and abilities listed below.

EXAMPLES OF ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

The competitive selection process may cover:

Knowledge of : Basic recordkeeping.
Ability to : Read and write basic English; check documents for accuracy; utilize test equipment to perform simple comparative tests to screen for unacceptable liquids; perform basic mathematical calculations; interact and communicate effectively with Districts' employees and the public; learn computer systems; and demonstrate positive cognitive, behavioral, and motivational work habits.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

SELECTION PROCESS:

• All applications will be reviewed to determine if the conditions and qualifications for testing are met.
• The selection process will consist of a written test weighted at 50% and an interview weighted at 50%.
• The written exam is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 17th.
• Candidates must receive a qualifying score on each selection component to move forward in the selection process.
