The Ventura County Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector to serve as its operational leader and second-in-command.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a critical public finance organization responsible for banking, investments, tax collection, and financial stewardship, with more than $15 billion processed annually through Treasury operations.
Working closely with the elected Treasurer-Tax Collector, you will provide executive oversight of complex operations, lead multiple functional areas, strengthen business processes, and advance initiatives that promote innovation, efficiency, compliance, and exceptional service.

Work Schedule: Our team operates on a regular, in-office schedule: Monday through Friday. No remote work is available for this position.

The Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector is an at-will position and is exempt from the provisions of the Civil Service Ordinance.

- Your increasingly responsible senior level management experience in treasury, investments, public finance, tax administration, banking, or closely related governmental financial operations.

- Your experience collaborating with diverse levels of an organization and developing professional relationships with external stakeholders
- Your experience managing work units and supervising staff, including the titles, number, and functions of staff you have supervised.

RESUME EVALUATION
First review date is September 23, 2026.
Resumes and cover letters will be screened based on the criteria outlined in this brochure. Following an evaluation of resumes and cover letters, the most qualified candidates will be invited to a panel interview. The top candidates, as determined by the panel, will then be invited to a second/final interview. The interviews may be consolidated into one process or expanded into multiple interviews contingent upon the size and quality of the candidate pool.
Background Investigation
The selected candidate may be subjected to a thorough background investigation which may include inquiry into past employment, education, criminal background information, and driving record. In addition, the successful candidate may be subjected to Live Scan fingerprinting.
