ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Clark County Administrative Services Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Recreation/Cultural Program Administrator position within the Special Events division. This position provides leadership and oversight for the planning, production, and execution of community-focused events that support Clark County Commissioners’ Community Engagement Initiatives.
The Recreation/Cultural Program Administrator provides leadership to event coordinators, production staff, and other event personnel while coordinating closely with elected officials, County departments, vendors, and community partners. This team member also provides strategic direction throughout the event planning and production process and ensures events are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Clark County policies, procedures, and applicable codes.
This role requires a strong communicator who builds positive relationships, develops and supports staff, works collaboratively across diverse teams and with stakeholders, exercises sound judgment, and remains calm and solution-focused when challenges arise. The ideal candidate is an experienced, creative, and solution-oriented special events professional with strong leadership and project management skills who has experience in event planning and production, managing sponsorships and community partnerships, coordinating event logistics such as invitations, décor, audiovisual equipment, staffing, safety, setup and strike, as well as in budget management, data tracking, and report creation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Arts or a closely related field AND three (3) years of full-time professional level experience in recreation and/or cultural program planning and administration; one (1) year of which includes lead or supervisory experience. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to two (2) years.

Licensing and Certification: Specified positions may require possession of a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. Specified positions may require certification in CPR and first-aid.
Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.

Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Develops and directs the implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for assigned programs and activities.
- Plans, develops, implements, promotes and directs a broad recreational and/or cultural program of activities and services for specified age groups.
- Assists in preparing and administering the budget for assigned programs and activities; assists in preparing and administering grants.
- Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned professional and support staff.
- Recommends selection of staff; trains staff in work procedures; administers discipline as required.
- Maintains effective relations with a variety of community organizations, groups and the public; works closely with County staff to provide comprehensive recreation/cultural services to County residents and to solve a broad range of service delivery, community and administrative problems.
- Evaluates and monitors assigned recreation/cultural programs and recommends improvements.
- Prepares a variety of periodic and special reports related to recreation programs and activities; develops and writes manuals and instruction procedures.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Surveys the community to determine recreation and/or cultural needs and plans and implements programs to satisfy these needs.
- Uses a variety of standard office equipment in the performance of the work.
- May drive a personal or County vehicle in the performance of the work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Specified positions may require strength and dexterity to lead specific sports or recreation programs.
