A Parts/Materials Supervisor job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department /Plant Operations Division. This position supervises and coordinates the division's procurement, warehousing, and inventory management operations, collaborates with other divisions, vendors, external agencies, and the public, and provides staff support to senior supervisory and management personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, purchasing, accounting or related field
- Four (4) years of responsible purchasing, materials management, or inventory control experience
- One (1) year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience
- Must pass Drug Screen, Physical
- Valid Texas driver's license
- As assigned, possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate forklift certificate
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Municipality purchasing policies and procedures
- Experience with Asset Management Systems
- Experience PeopleSoft/ EPR Financial Supply Chain Management
The Parts/Material Supervisor job responsibilities include:
- Supervise staff, ensuring proper training, adherence to policies, a safe work environment, and informed decisions or recommendations on hiring and disciplinary actions
- Manages warehouse operations; such as flow of goods from receiving shipment to storing, picking, packing and shipping out
- Monitors stock records to ensure inventory is within established guidelines; and reviews daily inventory cycle counts, monthly inventory interfaces and annual year end audit count
- Coordinates purchasing or warehousing activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations
- Evaluate new services or products offered to the City by vendors and suppliers; make recommendations on purchase for specific areas; solicits quotes; and research prices for materials and supplies required by assigned department
- Provides staff assistance to higher level supervisory or management; participates in a variety of committees; and prepares and presents staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.

Medical Program
The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.
The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s

Employees can visit any one of the three City of Fort Worth Employee Health Centers and receive guaranteed same or next day appointments for sick visits. Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.
The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).
• Preventative services are covered at 100% on both plans.
• Prescription Drug coverage including mail order pharmacy are also included.
Vacation
Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.
Holidays
Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.
Wellness Program
The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
