Position Description
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Health Professions, Department of Laboratory Sciences and Primary Care, Molecular Pathology Program invites applications from highly motivated individuals for a part-time, adjunct instructor position on the Lubbock campus.
The NAACLS-accredited TTUHSC MP Program is a 12-month, master's-level curriculum located in Lubbock, TX with a brand-new state of the art student laboratory, providing advanced hands on learning for each student. The average class size of approximately 28 students is one of the largest in the nation.
This program is part of the TTUHSC School of Health Professions, which is located within a major academic medical center in Lubbock, Texas. Lubbock is a city of over 250,000 on the South Plains of West Texas, with a family-friendly atmosphere, good schools and a national ranking for a low cost of living and short average commute.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received and will continue until the position is filled. Preferably this individual would be available to begin August 24, 2026.
Major/Essential Functions
- Assist in teaching basic and advanced clinical molecular diagnostic science courses including but not limited to Applied Molecular Techniques I and II, Principles in Molecular Pathology and Graduate Research.
- Assist the Molecular Pathology laboratory manager during laboratory sessions.
- Supervise students in laboratory, ensure safety and quality assurance.
- Assist with the setup of student laboratory sessions for Molecular Pathology and assist course directors with laboratory instructions.
- Perform evaluations and grading in assigned courses.
- Mentor student research projects, including assay design, validation and presentation.
- Preparation of student assessments as appropriate for students' academic training.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school, program, course, and student activities.
- Design and develop research and scholarly activities appropriate to this academic rank.
- Work with peers, support staff and members of the community as needed.
- Additional responsibilities include teaching undergraduate or graduate courses within the department as assigned by the program director or department chair.
Occasional Duties
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in molecular pathology.
- Active Certification as MB(ASCP)CM.
- Experience with DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, Real-time PCR, Sanger Sequencing, Nanopore sequencing, Illumina sequencing, and Eppendorf automated liquid handling.
- Must reside in Lubbock, TX and be available for in-person classes and laboratories.
