Position OverviewCrime Prevention Specialists perform non-sworn support duties in education regarding crime prevention methods and techniques on home and business security, property identification, and personal protection for individuals and community groups. Incumbents will be required to make presentations to property owners, schools and community groups on crime prevention.ResponsibilitiesPerform outreach and educational presentations to community groups to promote crime prevention techniques.QualificationsSix months full‑time experience preparing program materials and making presentations to the public and community groups to promote crime prevention.Nine units of college coursework in criminal justice, journalism, speech arts, psychology or sociology.CompensationStarting salary will be based on qualifications at time of appointment. Future salary increases: June 2027 – 4.3% increase to base pay (3.0% Across‑The‑Board + 1.3% Market Increase).Condition of EmploymentProspective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre‑employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.Working ConditionsAbility to work irregular hours, shifts and weekends.Evening meetings may require night shift adjustments.Both office and field environments; work may be in community facilities across the County.A valid California Class C driver's license, maintained throughout employment, is required at the time of appointment or the ability to arrange necessary transportation for field travel.Incumbents may be required to use their own vehicle for field travel.EvaluationQualified applicants will be placed on a six‑month employment list based on scores from their application and supplemental questionnaire.#J-18808-Ljbffr
