Once hired, you will be paid while attending training and sponsored through the Utah POST Academy to obtain your Basic Corrections Officer Certification.Starting Pay:Deputy Sheriff I – Corrections: $29.36–$32.94/hourDeputy Sheriff II – Corrections: $30.74–$35.35/hour (requires a minimum of 18 months of certified corrections experience)Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentAt least 19 years old to attend POST AcademyValid driver's license (Utah license required within 60 days of hire)Testing/Interview Process:Video ExamCandidates must score at least 70% on each section.Physical Fitness Test1.5-mile run in 17 minutes or less30-second plank10 push-ups without restIn-Person Interviews (2–3 Weeks After Testing)The top 18–25 scoring candidates will be invited to participate in an in-person interview with our hiring panel.Work Schedule:7 night shifts4 days off4 day shifts7 days off3 day shifts3 days offThen the schedule repeats.What You'll Do:Deputy Sheriffs assigned to Corrections help maintain the safety and security of the Utah County Security Center. Duties include inmate booking, housing, transportation, supervision, and inmate work programs.Important Hiring Information:Testing is conducted every 2–3 months based on hiring needs. The most recent testing date took place on May 11, 2026.Applicants will be contacted when a new testing date has been scheduled.
