The City of Fort Worth is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Account Technician to support the accuracy of water billing and account records. This position plays an important role as a software end-user in validating customer account information, dispatching and processing work orders, and ensuring accurate meter-related data in the City's billing and service systems.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree with major course work in accounting, finance, business administration, or related fields
- One (1) year of experience in customer service, data entry, account maintenance, work order processing or related administrative support
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AMI systems, especially RNI and MDMS platforms
- Familiarity with billing systems, customer relations management software, or other asset/work order management platforms
- Background in data entry, work order or invoice QA/QC, and record keeping.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
- Experience in dispatching, service coordination, or queue management in an in-office environment
The Account Technician job responsibilities include:
- Dispatch work orders to field staff; investigate, route, and prioritize service requests throughout the service area
- Monitor system-generated reports to detect and respond to system issues, missing or incorrect data, or service discrepancies
- Review, enter, and maintain account, meter, and service data in multiple software systems
- Generate and track work orders for service requests, account corrections, and field investigations
- Perform data quality checks to ensure meter readings used for billing and account information is accurate, complete, and properly documented
- Collaborate with field crews, billing teams, and water development staff to ensure accurate meter readings and service records
- Review Geographical Information System and utility maps to confirm the location of meter-related infrastructure
- Participate in training new staff and supporting special projects involving meter data and customer analytics
- Support special projects, audits, and process improvements as assigned

Benefits That Are Well Worth It

All regular full-time employees and those employees who work 30–39 hours per week are eligible for all City of Fort Worth Benefits. Medical Program
The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.
The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s
primary health care services that are 100% completely free and unlimited. Employees can visit any one of the three City of Fort Worth Employee Health Centers and receive guaranteed same or next day appointments for sick visits. Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.
The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).
• Preventative services are covered at 100% on both plans.
• Prescription Drug coverage including mail order pharmacy are also included.
Vacation
Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.
Holidays
Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.
Wellness Program
The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
