    Special Salary Information:

    WORKFORCE SHORTAGE BONUSES:

    Due to a critical shortage, new and current employees will be granted a temporary bonus placing them at step 8 ($109,538.16) of the salary range. This temporary bonus is in effect until June 30, 2026, or until it is driven that a shortage no longer exists, whichever happens sooner.

    Essential Job Functions

    Receives request from physician for special radiographic procedure.

    Based on the physician's tentative diagnosis, determines equipment requirements for the procedure and scout films necessary for physician's preliminary viewing.

    Tests special equipment such as contrast media injectors, program selectors, and film changers for function prior to examination to ensure that equipment elements are timed and synchronized to operate at desired intervals.

    Loads cut or roll film changers and cine cameras, making certain of correct sequencing and film transport.

    Sets program selector in accordance with protocol, and uses independent judgment to reset program selector in accordance with physician's desired examination results.

    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:

    To be considered, applicants must submit a completed application and satisfy the following requirements:
    • One (1) year of experience* at the level of a Certified Radiologic Technologist** under the direction of a radiologist.

    LICENSE:

    To be considered for this role,at the time of hire, you will need to have a Radiologic Technologist Fluoroscopy permit and one of the following, both issued by the California State Department of Public Health (CSDPH), and will need to provide the hiring team supporting documentation:

    Current and active Radiologic Technologist certification

    - OR -

    A temporary permit to practice Radiologic Technology

    *Applicants claiming experience in a state other than California must provide their Radiologic Technologist certification number from that state on the application. Without the required license number, your experience will not be considered.

    **Experience at the level of Radiologic Technologist in the County of Los Angeles is defined as: Performs radiographic procedures employing the use of X-ray to produce images of various parts of the body for the diagnosis of pathological and traumatic disorders.
    You may still qualify even if your job title isn’t exactly the same as the ones listed. What matters is that your experience is at a similar level - meaning your job involves similar responsibilities, requires comparable skills and knowledge, and takes place within a similar organizational structure. Please provide a clear explanation of your experience to demonstrate that it is at the appropriate level.

Provide the title of the certificate/permit, the certificate/permit number, date issued and expiration date, and the name of the issuing agency.     PHYSICAL CLASS:

    3 - Moderate: Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Additional credit will be given to applicants who possess the following desirable qualifications:
    • Additional experience beyond the Selection Requirements.
    • A bachelor’s degree*** or higher from an accredited college or university

    SPECIALTY REQUIREMENTS INFORMAITON:
    ***To receive credit for your education or training, include a legible copy of your official diploma, official transcript, or letter/certificate from an accredited institution. The document should show the date the degree was conferred and be in English. If not in English, then translation is required. International degrees must be evaluated for equivalency to U.S. standards if not listed in the International Handbook of Universities or World Higher Education Database.     OUT OF CLASS INFORMATION: County employees who wish to meet the requirements using out-of-class experience will be considered for this examination. Those claiming out-of-class experience should describe their out-of-class duties in detail in the Work Experience and Supplemental Questions sections of their application. Applicants are also encouraged to submit any supporting documentation such as out of class/additional responsibility bonuses, verification of experience documents, and performance evaluations in order to assist staff’s review of applicants' qualifications. No withholds are allowed for this examination.

    Additional Information

    EXAMINATION CONTENT:
    This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience and education based upon application information, desirable qualifications and supplemental questionnaire, weighted 100%.

    Applicants must receive a passing score of 70% or higher on this examination to be added to the eligible register.

    ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION:
    Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the eligible register accordingly.
    Candidates who have received a passing score are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of six (6) months.

    No person may compete in this examination more than once every six (6) months.

    The eligible register for this examination will be used to fill vacancies throughout the Department of Health Services as they occur.

    AVAILABLE SHIFT:
    Appointees may be required to work any shift, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
