Job Description

Position Overview: Join the Truckee Police Department as a Community Animal Services Officer I, where you’ll play a vital role in serving our community. This is an exciting opportunity for those passionate about animal welfare and public safety. While this role includes various non-sworn law enforcement support duties, we place a strong emphasis on animal control responsibilities. You’ll be patrolling the community, responding to animal-related calls, enforcing local regulations, and ensuring the safety and humane treatment of domestic and wild animals. Prior experience in animal control, veterinary services, rescue organizations, or a related field is a plus. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid 832 certificate (without firearms) is required within 6 months of hire.
Beyond animal control, this role offers diverse experiences such as vehicle abatement, parking enforcement, and traffic control. Whether you’re assisting lost pets, investigating animal neglect cases, or educating the public on responsible pet ownership, your work will have a direct impact on the well-being of Truckee’s residents and animals alike.
