    Job Description

    This position will be located at Mastodon State Historic Site. Shifts will occur primarily in the museum, located at 1050 Charles J Becker Drive in Imperial. Shifts will generally occur between 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Weekend availability is required.

    Duration of Assignment: May - September, with possibility to extend further.

    • Provide customer service to visitors, including taking admissions, answering guest questions, and assisting with merchandise purchases.
    • Clean the museum and assist in museum opening and closing tasks.
    • Plan and present interpretive programs to the public.
    • Assist in the removal of invasive plant species.


    To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:

    • Oral Communication : Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately

    Experience to be Gained:

    • Developing and implementing interpretive programming for a wide range of audiences.
    • Hands-on experience in invasive species monitoring and removal.
    • Detailed knowledge about local archaeology and ecology.
