Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: No minimum qualifications per Civil Service. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Experience in developing and presenting programs to school-age groups and community groups • Experience with social media, public speaking and communication and/or leadership Duties Description DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Environmental Educator, the selected candidate will assist with educational programming, as well as routine maintenance of the park As a Parks and Recreation Aide 3, job duties may include but are not limited to, • Developing, evaluating and presenting materials to the public. • Recruiting, training, and supervising interns and volunteers • Monitoring projects in the state park. • Organizing, conducting, and teaching a variety of recreational activities • Providing administrative activities to support programs. • Cleans, repairs, and maintains facilities, equipment, and exhibits. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS: • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. • Ability to climb stairs and walk and stand for prolonged periods including over uneven terrain while interacting with the public. • Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor. • Will be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. • May be required to travel to other parks to assist with environmental educational programming. • Must be able to complete and pass mandatory first aid and staff training, including but not limited to CPR/AED, etc. • Must be capable of basic computer operation.
