    Job Description

    A position in the Missouri Department of Corrections is more than a job. It's a calling.     Individuals in this position will be assigned to evening and overnight hours at the Academy for Excellence in Corrections. Workdays will include some holidays, with the exception of: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    Regular duties may involve several facility processes including communication with contract vendors regarding meals, laundering services, evening activities, facility security and resource liaison for academy students.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    One or more years of experience that is relevant/similar to the above listed job functions, and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.

    (Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at a rate of 30 credit hours for one year)

    Some positions are eligible for a shift differential of $173.34 semi-monthly, which is provided to employees with shifts that begin on or between 12:00pm (noon) and 5:00am, and who work at a 24/7 worksite (i.e. institution, transition center, supervision center, or command center), or whose work requires regular visits to these locations. If selected for interview, eligibility may be discussed at that time with the hiring manager.

    The Department of Corrections is the only State agency that currently offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of service up to 20 years.
