    Job Summary

    Under the general supervision of the BMAC Director and Associate Director, this position performs a variety of front office reception duties, student relations activities, and administrative and clerical duties that support the overall business and operational needs of the department. The Front Office Coordinator acts as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors and is responsible for opening and closing BMAC during business hours. This position provides departmental reception coordination and support that is equitable, inclusive, and provides culturally appropriate services to enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Front Desk Reception - Serves as the first point of contact for students, faculty, staff, visitors and individuals who request information and assistance via calls, e-mail, or in-person. Provides general BMAC and CSULB information and on-campus referrals to in-person visitors, callers, and e-mail inquiries.
    • Faculty and Student Relations Activities - Support students with disabilities and parenting and pregnant parents. Support students with various MyBMAC inquiries as well as follow up of incomplete or pending applications. Access to various aspects of student accounts via PeopleSoft (e.g. schedules, grade reports, registration data, and academic calendar deadlines) to assist students and staff in student advising.
    • Administrative Duties and Clerical Support - Coordinate MyBMAC registration and appointment database maintenance and make modifications/updates as needed. Provides support to the Director and Associate Director in the daily tasks of maintaining their calendars (e.g., making appointments, coordinating meetings, all calendar-related activities) and maintains conference room calendars.

    Compensation

    Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
    • Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $3,565 (Step 1) - $4,260 (Step 10) per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.
    • CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,565 (Step 1) - $5,092 (Step 20) per month.

The ideal candidate is reliable, consistently arrives prepared to perform their duties, and exercises sound judgment, handling confidential information with tact, diplomacy, and respect for the rights of individuals and the University.

    Education and Experience

    Equivalent to three years of administrative support experience required.

    Preferred:

    •Bachelor's degree

    • Background working with students with disabilities at an educational level (K-12, community college, and/or University).

    Physical Summary

    Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects (10 pounds or less).

    Additional Information

    CSULB is not a sponsoring agency for staff and management positions (i.e. H-1B Visas).

    A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSULB will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
