    The Job

    SALARY INCREASES

    The District Attorney’s Office is recruiting for a Budget Officer to oversee the fiscal management of multiple funding sources within the department. This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with County, State, and Federal financial policies and procedures; preparing the annual budget and year-end estimates; preparing and submitting budget adjustments, producing detailed monthly reports; and developing a cost-tracking system for expenditures under Proposition 172 and AB 109.
    Other Duties Include:
    • Manage and control the department's purchases and expenditures.
    • Analyze the impact of special revenue operations on the Department’s Discretionary General Fund and recommend operational changes.
    • Make recommendations and implement best practices for use of funding.
    • Supervise staff members engaged in the preparation and development of budgets.
    • Supervise the preparation of grant claims and revenue received.
    • Supervise the preparation of other types of funding claims and revenue.
    • Prepare and present justifications for budgetary and fiscal recommendations to executive leadership.
    • Coordinate or provide records to State or Federal Auditors, drafting responses to reports, and implementing auditors’ recommendations.
    • Assist with identifying funding for capital improvement projects and monitoring funding sources of large projects.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

    Summary of Benefits

    Minimum Requirements

    EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in finance/accounting, public/business administration, management, or a closely related field.
    -AND-
    ANALYTICAL EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent professional level administrative experience (duties equivalent to a San Bernardino County Staff Analyst II or above) performing complex analytical duties as a primary job function in at least two of the following areas: budget/financial analysis, governmental accounting, contracts or grants management, capital improvement planning, requests for proposal (RFP), or operational/organizational analysis.
    -AND-
    SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of lead or supervisory work experience over an administrative support staff. Experience may be concurrent.

    Desired Qualifications

    The ideal candidate for the Budget Officer position is a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional with strong experience in public-sector budgeting and financial administration. This individual will have an understanding of governmental funding sources, compliance requirements, and know how to prepare and monitor detailed financial reports.
