As a
Recreation Leader II your duties will include:
- Planning, organizing, and leading nature-based programs, guided hikes, interpretive talks, and outdoor educational activities for visitors of all ages
- Observing park patrons and program participants to maintain safety, order, and appropriate trail or facility use
- Preparing and distributing informational materials such as program flyers, trail updates, interpretive content, and park promotions
- Setting up, tearing down, and cleaning up for natural resource programs, volunteer projects, and special events
- Maintaining the safety and security of park facilities, trails, and program areas, including monitoring environmental conditions
- Managing tools, equipment, and program materials with consistent inventory, storage, and care
- Driving a motor vehicle to transport supplies, materials, or equipment for programs and events
- Leading teams or projects, including coordinating daily staff or volunteer activities in a natural resources setting
Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $25.29/hour. Please note: Due to this position being part-time, the classification is unclassified, meaning it is at-will and serves at the discretion of the City. These positions have limited benefits as required by law.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience - No education required for this position.
- A minimum of six months experience in a customer service position.
Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements - Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Graduated licenses are considered restricted and therefore not acceptable for driving positions with the City of Scottsdale.
- Successfully complete driving training, first aid, and safety classes.
- A valid food handler's license ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire or promotion is required for the Concessions Assignment.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/section assignment.
