Fresno County Employees' Retirement Association (FCERA) is offering an excellent opportunity for a motivated, organized individual interested in the position of
Retirement Specialist I. As a
Retirement Specialist, the successful candidate will perform a variety of retirement management and advisory activities and functions. Responsibilities include processing regular and disability retirement applications, computing retirement benefits and options, and performing legal research.
FCERA, headed by the Retirement Administrator, is responsible for controlling and accounting for contributions and investment income under the direction of a nine-member Board of Retirement. FCERA is an independent association established by the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 and is subject to the laws governing fiduciaries. The Association provides retirement benefits for eligible employees of the County of Fresno, Superior Courts of California (Fresno), and participating agencies including the Fresno- Madera Area Agency on Aging, Clovis Veterans Memorial District, and Fresno Mosquito and Vector Control District.

Education : Possession of a bachelor's degree that is acceptable in the United States' accredited college and university system with a major in accounting, public administration, business administration, economics, or a closely related field.
OPTION 2 :
Education : Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system, with at least fifteen (15) semester units in accounting, public administration, business administration, economics, or a closely related field.
Experience : Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience performing a wide range of payroll activities and/or conducting financial calculations and/or transactions.
In addition to the options listed above, the following may also be required:
License : Possession of a valid class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.
Note : Permanent status may not be obtained in this classification. Incumbents must advance to the Retirement Specialist II classification within two (2) years from the date of initial employment or be rejected during the provisional appointment.

SELECTION PROCESS: Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months, and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
