DescriptionPerforms supervisory, administrative, and technical duties in the Warehouse, Logistics, Inventory Control, and Materiel Management Operations while ensuring compliance and adherence to all safety rules, regulations, and goals.
Examples of Duties- Oversees storerooms and monitors stock orders in support of inventory management
- Plans, organizes, and monitors the daily Logistics activities, including issuing materiel, credits/returns, cores, restocking receipts, and truck dispatch at assigned warehouses and storerooms
- Develops budgets, schedules, and staffing requirements
- Resolves problems related to warehousing, storekeeping, and inventory control operations
- Uses computerized recordkeeping systems to monitor and maintain material inventories
- Organizes the distribution and inspection of materials and supplies
- Ensures assignments and work comply with union contracts
- Conducts first-level disciplinary hearings and grievances
- Reviews supply/equipment requests and no-stock report
- Directs the filling and delivery of orders
- Processes required forms and reports
- Works with Materiel Planning and Procurement to analyze and adjust materiel and equipment requirements
- Develops procedures related to handling and distribution of stock items
- Conducts safety inspections and meetings
- Ensures proper and safe storage of fuels, lubricants, and other hazardous materials
- Coordinates special storeroom projects
- Oversees the cycle counting and random sampling activities at warehouses and storerooms
- Meets with key stakeholders at the warehouses and storerooms to address materiel needs
- Ensures preventive maintenance is performed on mechanical and electrical units
- Ensures that proper fire protection and climate control are in proper order for indoor storage
- Ensures security is maintained at warehouses and storerooms
- Supervises and trains subordinates at Logistics warehouses and storerooms
- Accounts for subordinates and personal compliance with all of Metro's safety rules, polices, and procedures

Minimum QualificationsA combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Additional experience, as outlined below, may be substituted for required education on a year-for-year basis. A typical combination includes:
EducationExperience- Three years of relevant lead experience in a warehouse/storeroom environment; experience in material handling in a transportation, military, fleet, utilities, or mining warehouse/storeroom environment preferred; experience utilizing materiel management software in an automated warehouse or inventory control environment preferred
Certifications/Licenses/Special Requirements- Frequent exposure to chemical, physical, mechanical, electrical, and weather hazards
- Work various shifts and weekends as required
- Shift work
- Must comply with all California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (Cal/OSHA) regulations and utilize approved safety equipment and personal protective gear including, but not limited to, respirators, eye and hearing protective devices (HPD), if and when required
- Valid California Class C Driver License
