*Subject to change. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Senior Staff Analyst will provide professional analytical, process auditing, and project management services to the Assistant Director of Business Support Services.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Data Analysis & Reporting - Lead the team of analysts responsible for maintaining and reporting on all departmental KPI and problem analysis.
- Continuous Data review and validation of IPS.
- Develop and maintain monthly performance scorecards, delivering critical insights on operational efficiency and service levels.
- Automate department reporting by utilizing Power BI.
- Provide regular briefings and presentations to leadership teams, highlighting performance trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Produce recurring and on demand reports for operational as well as financial activities.
- Interpret large-scale data and provide actionable information to senior leadership.
- Review customer financials.
Process Improvement & Business Support - Provide support to Utility Billing in reviewing customer inquiries to identify process gaps and provide recommendation.
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, variances, and root causes, enabling data-driven decisions for process improvements.
- Prepare and present presentations both internally and externally.
- Continuous business process support to employees at all levels.
- Identify process gap using reactive customer issue or proactive data analysis in billing and meter operations.
- Plan, initiate, and execute large and small process improvement projects.
Project Management - Manage various major and mini projects for Utility Billing.
- Conduct Process auditing of internal operations.
- Perform Data Analysis for large volume customer impact after natural disasters and provide relief recommendations.
WORKING CONDITIONS The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a field directly related to the type of work being performed.
Graduate degrees related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Five years of professional administrative, financial or analytical experience related to the type of work being performed are required.
Professional experience related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
