    Job Summary

    The Mohave County Finance Department is seeking to hire a Chief Financial Officer.

    We are located at 700 W. Beale Street, Kingman, AZ.

    First Review of Applications will be on the week of March 16, 2026.

    The Salary Range for this position is $50.79 - $81.52/hr.

    • The approved hiring salary range is $50.79 - $70.32/hr.
    Role Overview:
    Leads the County’s financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, reporting, audits, and compliance. Serves as chief financial advisor to County leadership, elected officials, and department heads.

    Essential Job Functions:
    • Oversees development of the annual County budget.
    • Advises Board of Supervisors, County Manager, and elected officials.
    • Directs financial reporting (AFR, ELR, SEFA) and audit coordination.
    • Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
    • Manages accounting, payroll, investments, and internal controls.
    • Supervises and develops Financial Services staff.
    • Monitors legislative impacts and recommends improvements.


    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business/Public Administration, or related field.
    • Experience in governmental finance or accounting, including leadership experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Master’s degree, CPA/CGFM, and/or county government experience.


    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Expertise in governmental budgeting and financial management, including budget development, accounting, treasury, revenue administration, and financial reporting. Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing public finance, including county provisions and bonded indebtedness. Demonstrated ability to lead comprehensive financial services programs; design and implement effective financial policies, systems, and internal controls; and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
    • Proven skill in analyzing complex financial data and delivering clear, accurate reports to support executive and policy decisions. Experience with performance-based and capital budgeting, long-range financial planning, and organizational performance measurement. Proficient in financial technologies and data systems.
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage staff and programs within budget and policy constraints. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
