DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Conduct stormwater plan review and permit to ensure compliance with the Code of ordinances, City of Houston Infrastructure Design Manual (IDM).
• Work with Customer and Citizens on various plans and documents submitted for review or questions.
• Conduct any meeting that is requested from Customer and Citizens.
• Understand Storm and drainage Design requirements including Code of ordinances, City of Houston infrastructure manual (IDM), and other codes especially in recent detention change and new rainfall data Atlas 14.
• Review various Capital projects as assigned.
• Contact Stormwater quality (SWQ) plan review and permit to ensure compliance to Code of ordinances, City of Houston Infrastructure Design Manual (IDM) and TCEQ Rules and Regulations.
• Investigate and respond to any inquiries from other City of Houston departments, technical personnel, regulatory agencies, consultants, contractors and the public.
• Assist other technical work related to drainage and stormwater infrastructure.
• Perform other duties and tasks assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable. The individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering that is approved by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers as of satisfactory standing.
OR
Requires graduation from an Engineering or related science curriculum at a recognized institution of higher education, other than a curriculum approved by the Board, and passage of the eight - hour fundamentals of engineering examination prescribed by the Board.
OR
Possession of a valid Engineering-in-Training Certificate issued by the Board under the current requirements of the Texas Engineering Practice Act.

PREFERENCES**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** GENERAL INFORMATIONSELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED: Work Sample Exercise, application review and/or interview.
The candidate will be expected to receive professional engineering licensure within five-years of being hired as a graduate engineer.
