Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates and manages presence and activities of scheduled security personnel all Library locations, to include yards, parking lots/garages, and other surrounding areas.
- Secures security contracts through the City’s bidding process to secure additional security staff for events.
- Provides direction and training to security personnel, contract employees, and other City departments regarding Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and other training areas.
- Reviews site documentation, activity, and incident reports for the department.
- Issue, manages, and enforces Criminal Trespass Notices (CTN) in close collaboration with Austin Police Department (APD).
- Acts as a steward of the Library and anticipates and solves problems for Library patrons, educating rule violators on library safety rules and regulations.
- Monitors welfare of security personnel working after-hours and at remote assignments.
- Coordinate, transport and safeguard cash pick up and drop offs at all Library locations.
- Responds to after-hour emergency situations, incidents, and alarm notifications as necessary.
- Meets and provides law enforcement agencies and first responders access to secured and/or energized areas as needed.
- Provides periodic reports to management regarding site activities, irregularities, and identifies needed action.
- Works outside scheduled hours to ensure appropriate shift coverage, attend trainings, meetings, and/or other activities, as needed, to meet the business needs of the organization and the workgroup.

Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus five (5) years’ experience in a security-related position, two (2) years, which were in a lead or supervisor capacity.
Licenses and Certifications Required:- May require a valid Texas Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications:- Proven supervisory experience overseeing security staff in a 24-hour, 365-day operation, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Demonstrated experience planning, scheduling, and coordinating security operations for special events.
- Experience using Security Access Control and CCTV systems (e.g., Pelco, American Dynamics, Avigilon, or similar systems)
- Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to travel to more than one location.

Driving Requirements:- This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License or the ability to acquire one within 90 days of your hire date. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
