The PositionThe City of Riverside, Department of Marketing & Communications, is accepting applications for the position of
Media Production Assistant - Part Time to fill two (2) vacancies. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.
Under general supervision, the Media Production Assistant, Part-Time, supports various aspects of media production, including video commentating and City related event coverage at a part-time, on-call, as-needed capacity. Additional duties may include participation in media-related events and broadcasts to provide analysis and updates.
Work PerformedDuties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist with live sports commentary, Riverside TV on an as-needed basis.
- Aid with video productions using vocal and on-screen talents.
- Use interview techniques to obtain relevant information for RiversideTV productions in studio or on-scene.
- Set up and operate media equipment for event coverage; operates video cameras, edit videotape and perform related production functions.
- Assist with departmental communications activities.
- Collaborate with fellow commentators and production staff to ensure smooth broadcasts.
- Support live and recorded broadcasts and digital platforms.
- Write narrative copy for productions and provide other writing services as needed.
- Support file management, archiving, and organization of digital media assets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation: High school graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED)
Experience: One year of video production related experience.
Necessary Special Requirements: - Possession of, an appropriate, valid Class “C” California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Ability to work various schedules including day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts for event coverage
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments. Work may involve exposure to various weather conditions, loud noise levels, and crowded environments. Employees may be required to stand for extended periods, walk long distances across venues, and carry or set up media equipment. Work may also include irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules

All temporary employees are automatically enrolled in a mandatory Deferred Compensation plan in lieu of Social Security. Temporary employees are also eligible for paid sick leave as outlined in the Fringe Benefits and Salary Plan, Section 7. Employees may be eligible for CalPERS membership upon hire if they are already a CalPERS member, Tier designation is based on membership date. If no prior CalPERS membership exists, employees must meet CalPERS eligibility requirements before being brought into CalPERS membership.
