The Position Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This is a full-time position located at the Controller's Office in Carson City. Duties and responsibilities include processing wires, cancellations, reissues, deposits, file uploads, data entry for interagency Billing Claims and JVDs, and check printing. This requires working with various software and systems, such as banking systems and the State Accounting system to ensure accurate input, use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe, maintaining files and records, and maintaining professional and cooperative interactions with the public, other agency staff, and internal staff. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
