The Position
Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is with the State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds Section in Las Vegas. The HVACR Specialist I position will service, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment related to Direct Digital Control (DDC), chillers, boilers, pumps, hydronics, package & split systems, cooling towers, fan coils, VAV's, and other related HVAC equipment. This position works with work order system Maximo, and works with Building Automation Controls. The incumbent maintains EPA regulations, follows International Building Codes, and provides exceptional Customer Service. This job may require traveling to multiple locations and may require a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the department for emergency situations (stand-by status), projects as they arise, and call backs. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be requred to pay for these items. This position requires the incumbent to be EPA certified to recover refrigerant and recharge equipment. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. Additional Position Criteria This job may require traveling to multiple locations and may require a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the department for emergency situations (stand-by status), projects as they arise, and call backs. Show moreThe presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.
European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.
Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
The Nevada Legislature has honored the State's natural resources and cultural heritage with a variety of State designations described below.
