The Position Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is with the State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds Section in Las Vegas. The HVACR Specialist I position will service, maintain, and repair HVAC equipment related to Direct Digital Control (DDC), chillers, boilers, pumps, hydronics, package & split systems, cooling towers, fan coils, VAV's, and other related HVAC equipment. This position works with work order system Maximo, and works with Building Automation Controls. The incumbent maintains EPA regulations, follows International Building Codes, and provides exceptional Customer Service. This job may require traveling to multiple locations and may require a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the department for emergency situations (stand-by status), projects as they arise, and call backs. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be requred to pay for these items. This position requires the incumbent to be EPA certified to recover refrigerant and recharge equipment. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
