    Anticipated Hiring Range: $73,000 - $80,000 (Dependent upon qualifications)

    Position:

    The Department of Psychology at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Social Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor.

    The successful candidate will teach courses across the field of social psychology and have research interests in a subfield of social psychology. Research areas of interest for this position are open. Possible subfields of specialization include, but are not limited to, culture, intergroup processes, social cognition, self, interpersonal relationships, health, and well-being. Applicants who possess advanced statistical knowledge, who utilize innovative or leading-edge methods, and whose work shows evidence of integration across subareas of psychology are of particular interest.

    In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate may be required to teach on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and/or online and will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion. Given CSUN’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and engagement in a diverse environment, the successful candidate will help the Department achieve equitable academic outcomes for all students through teaching, student mentorship, scholarship, and service.

    Required Qualifications:
    • PhD from an accredited institution in Psychology or a closely related field. Degree must be awarded by date of appointment.
    • Evidence of, or clear potential for, excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in social psychology, in both in-person and online modalities, in a student-centered and equitable manner.
    • Evidence of and further potential for excellence in research in social psychology.
    • Commitment to and clear potential for inclusively teaching and mentoring diverse and underrepresented undergraduate and graduate students.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Use of advanced statistical and/or innovative methodologies that inform the applicant’s research and teaching.
    • Professional development and/or service activities that enhance community and advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and intercultural communication.
    • A clear potential research program that can be successfully accomplished as a faculty member at CSUN while including undergraduate and/or graduate students.
