The Position
Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker 2, Intake Coordinator, within Southern Nevada Child and Adolescent Services (SNCAS) at the South Neighborhood Family Center (Henderson) in the Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Services (ECMHS) and Children's Clinical Services program. Psychiatric Caseworkers perform targeted case management services: assess youth's needs and resources to determine the level of assistance needed; provide appropriate information, linkages and referrals; monitor the progress of youth in treatment; partner with youth, families, and other team members to develop and facilitate child and family team meetings; coordinate discharge and aftercare services. This is a full-time position with a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. Special Notes As part of the hiring process, applicants may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Show moreThe presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.
European explorers traveled through Nevada in the early 19th century, but it was not until 1851 that the first settlements were established. An Act of Congress created the Territory of Nevada on March 2, 1861. James W. Nye of New York was appointed Nevada's first Territorial Governor by President Abraham Lincoln later that year. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.
Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
The Nevada Legislature has honored the State's natural resources and cultural heritage with a variety of State designations described below.
