The Position Personnel Analysts are responsible for performing comprehensive personnel functions for a state department, division or agency. Work may involve employee relations, recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee development, benefit administration, staffing and payroll.
Under direction, Personnel Analyst I's perform entry level professional personnel work as described in the series concept in one or more functional areas in Human Resource Management or a State agency. The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (NDCNR), protects, manages, and enhances the State's resources to provide the highest quality of life for Nevada's citizens and visitors. The NDCNR with over 900 employees consists of the Director's Office and the following divisions and programs: Environmental Protection, Forestry, State Lands, State Parks, Water Resources, Outdoor Recreation, Natural Heritage, State Historic Preservation Office, Off-Highway Vehicles, Sagebrush Ecosystem, and the Conservation Districts Program. The Department also provides support staff to the Nevada Tahoe Regional Planning Agency and has responsibility for numerous Boards, Commissions, and Councils. The Department has locations and/or provides program services in every community of the State.
The Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) seeks a Personnel Analyst 1 underfilling a Personnel Analyst 2 to join their team. This position is responsible for all human resources and payroll functions for the Division. Key duties include managing the process for Heart and Lung physicals; prepare and maintain reports; oversee preparation of and provide review of any HR related documents; providing guidance regarding the FMLA, ADA, and Catastrophic Leave programs; supervising subordinate human resources staff; representing the Division at meetings or hearings as assigned; providing policy direction and rules interpretation; coordinating and participating in career fairs, developing, revising, and updating Division policies; and ensure new hire orientations are conducted. The incumbent will perform recruiting activities including the development of position announcements that comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and department policies. The incumbent will also provide training and assistance to employees and supervisors, as needed, on HR related topics. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field; OR three years of experience as a Personnel Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
