    The Position

    Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    This position is for a Custodial Worker 2 within the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Museums & History Division, located in Las Vegas. Under the supervision of the Facilities Supervisor III. The incumbent is responsible for keeping the facility clean and will have a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to; cleaning hardware, glass (up to 6ft), decorative metals, solid surface counter tops, laminated tops, all types of flooring, and tile (floor & walls). This position will also be responsible for minor maintenance duties such as replacing light bulbs, minor hardware repairs, and maintaining custodial equipment. Keep track of custodial supply inventory and notify Supervisor before supplies run out. Assist with other unusual cleaning procedures for exhibit displays and artifacts. Work with the Events Coordinator to set up and tear down tables, chairs, AV equipment, etc., and occasionally work special events in the evenings.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
