The Position Certified Nursing Assistants perform basic restorative services and basic nursing services related to the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, basic mental health and protection of patient rights.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Nevada Department of Corrections is hiring multiple Nursing Assistant Trainee positions as an underfill for Certified Nurse Assistant 2s in Ely, NV. Nursing Assistant Trainees will work under the direct supervision of a registered Correctional Nurse 2 (CN2) to gain certified nursing assistant training and experience. They will contribute to basic health assessments, report and record on flow sheets and treatment sheet's basic objective and subjective data related to patient's health status and report any changes to the CN2. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Current enrollment in a formal training program required for certification as a nursing assistant which has been approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing; OR completion of a formal Certified Nursing Assistant training program approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing with results of the certification examination pending. (In accordance with 42 CFR 483.75 (e)(2) (1998) an individual may retain Nursing Assistant Trainee status without certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant from the State of Nevada Board of Nursing for no more than four months, on a full-time basis.) Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, some positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to pre-employment screening for controlled substances. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
