    The Position

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

    This position is located in Reno, NV. The Equipment Superintendent plans, organizes, and directs the Equipment Division staff and activities. This includes overseeing the procurement of rental and non-rental equipment, vehicles, maintenance and construction materials, supplies, communication equipment, Urban Mass Transportation Act equipment, and fuel for use by state agencies. The role supports NDOT's operations programs and activities. This position is responsible for the oversight and management of divisional programs to ensure compliance with state statutes, federal regulations, and NDOT policies and procedures. It also involves monitoring new and revised division policies and procedures. The Equipment Superintendent reviews equipment utilization reports and equipment replacement schedules, oversees equipment specification committee meetings, approves completed specifications, and reviews bids with division staff to ensure compliance with specifications before final bid awards. The role includes monitoring and managing fleet operations, equipment repair and modification, sign production, stockroom operations, and fiscal management through supporting software platforms. It ensures that repair shops comply with procedures and that audits are conducted on all repair shops and stockrooms.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, business administration or closely related field and three years of professional experience which included procurement of highway construction and maintenance equipment; fleet management; policy development and administration; budget development; and supervision of professional staff; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of experience as described above; OR two years of experience as an Equipment Operations Manager in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
