The Position Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This internship is a 13-week summer program starting May 2026. Under general supervision, the interns will be responsible for the discovery and physical securing of abandoned mine openings that present hazards to humans or animals. The securing's are usually barbed wire fences. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university. Special Notes Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation. Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and hike over uneven terrain. Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Additional Position Criteria Transcripts verifying enrollment in Bachelor's program is required. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
