    The Position

    Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.

    Under general direction, incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups. This is a supervisory level for Computer Operations and the journey level for Information Security positions.

    Functions as a State Project Manager for CORE.NV and assists the CORE.NV Project Management Office in the day-to-day activities required to plan, execute and control the Project. Acts as subject matter expert for functional development on the Project. Brings an understanding of the State's technical standards, development infrastructure, integrating systems, and system support personnel. Identifies and logs issues and risks as it relates to the Project. Plans, coordinates, and monitors execution of testing with assistance from Project vendors. Reviews deliverables related to testing. Facilitates and runs defect review and all testing meetings. Follow's up on State's activities for closure of defect and testing status reports. Identifies and resolves issues in Test execution and planning. Coordinates participation of legacy technical resources in data conversions, and integrations design and development. Assists the project team by responding to technical questions regarding legacy reporting mechanisms and providing clarifications. Serves as Subject Matter Expert for reporting development for the Project. Co-develops reporting strategies and development standards with Project vendors. Has a detailed understanding of the existing reporting landscape at the State.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.     Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
