    Position: Assistant Professor of Cybersecurity
    Effective Date: August 17, 2026 (Fall Semester)
    Salary Range: The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary is $74,652 to $158,688/year; $6,221 to $13,224/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $103,008 to $106,008/per year $8,584 to $8,834/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Department of Computer Engineering and Computer Science (CECS)

    Required Qualifications:
    • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field. Areas of expertise may include, but not limited to, cybersecurity, computer and network security, hardware and embedded system security, cryptography, privacy-preserving and trustworthy computing, AI-driven security and adversarial machine learning, security of cyber-physical and autonomous systems, and/or cloud or edge system security. Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2026.
    • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering
    • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, and other related scholarly and/or creative activities
    • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • At least two years of teaching experience in undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in computer engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, or any related areas
    • At least one year of Postdoctoral experience especially in the following areas: cybersecurity, computer and network security, hardware and embedded system security, cryptography, or trustworthy computing
    • Experience successfully working with populations demographically and/or socioeconomically similar to the CSULB student body
    • Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom

    Duties:
    • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in cybersecurity, computer networks, and related areas of computer engineering and computer science. Instruction in the Department of CECS is primarily in-person. (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.)
    • Contribute to the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the curriculum in cybersecurity, computer networks, and related technical fields
    • Engage in sustained research and scholarly activities that result in peer-reviewed publications and external funding
    • Advise and mentor students to support their academic and professional growth
    • Provide service to the department, college, university, and broader community
