Sustainability Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinates projects related to the City's sustainability and climate resilience programs, including ordinance revisions, plan development, and implementation of sustainability and resilience programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Leads development and implementation of sustainability and climate resilience related ordinances, plans and policies
• Manages projects and programs; monitors information; prepares reports on progress
• Analyzes complex issues; presents findings and recommendations
• Tracks specific performance metrics related to the City's strategic plan and other sustainability and resiliency efforts
• Supports inclusion of sustainability and climate resilience in the City and County Comprehensive Plans and other City, local and regional climate plans.
• Acts as City point of contact for participation and collaboration with several external organizations
• Studies and makes recommendations for programmatic improvements and revisions
• Provides outreach to internal/external stakeholders on sustainability and resilience programs
• Provides information and assistance to City officials and management, other governmental agencies, and the general public
• Performs related work as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Bachelor's Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or related area of studyThree (3) to five (5) years of developing and implementing sustainability and resilience related ordinances, plans and policies or related experience. Additional qualifying experience or completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience or education.If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form ( J-204) to the online application. Preferences: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credential, or Certified Climate Change Professional (CC-P), or ISSP Sustainability Professional.

As public servants, employees may be required to work immediately before, during, and/or after an emergency. All employees must be available and able to work assigned shifts as determined by their Department Heads.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The position is generally sedentary. Employees sit most of the time, but may walk or stand for brief periods of time.
