DescriptionThe City of Irvine seeks a passionate and motivated individual for the Extended Part-Time Public Safety Assistant - Open Space position.
Extended Part-time: 30-32 hours per week.Open Space: The position of Public Safety Assistant assigned to the Open Space requires patrolling rugged, off-road terrain on foot, by bicycle and 4x4 vehicle. The hours are mostly afternoon and weekends but must be flexible to meet department needs.
Your Impact:- Duties include making presentations to community groups and department staff.
- Providing traffic control.
- Responding to emergencies.
- Writing police reports.
- Issuing citations and making municipal code and misdemeanor arrests.
- Providing exceptional customer service.
Candidates must either have completed or successfully complete PC832 within the first year of assignment.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions- Associate's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or related field with at least one year experience in law enforcement activities, community service, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Requires a valid California drivers' license.
- Depending on assignment, may be required to obtain certification in first aid and CPR.
