Job Description:Facility Service SpecialistPurpose:This position is responsible for providing maintenance and repairs to assigned buildings, including coordination of internal maintenance personnel or contractor vendors.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities: Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Plans and performs basic building repairs and participates in construction/installation activities on assigned projects.
- Conducts site inspections and reports on maintenance needs and safety violations.
- Coordinates with contractors, vendors, and other divisions providing maintenance, repairs, and moves to assigned buildings.
- Calculates figures and compiles data and information for reports, cost estimates, etc.
- Prepares and maintains status reports on projects.
- Monitors lease agreements, maintenance contracts, equipment installation contracts, and construction contracts.
- Researches information as requested or needed. Answers questions from internal and external customers.

Physical Requirements:- Ability to bend, lift, walk, carry, or use a force equal to lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.

- Extensive experience researching and coordinating with a variety of material suppliers, vendors, contractors, and service providers, and following public procurement requirements.

What does the Watershed Protection Department do? POSITION OVERVIEW :This position is responsible for providing repairs and maintenance of assigned projects and coordinating projects with personnel within the Watershed Protection Department, other City Departments and outside vendors. The position requires the ability to understand plans and specifications required for a project, planning tasks, selecting and procuring materials and fabricating means to complete the project. This also requires the ability to acquire cost estimates and bid documents from vendors, conduct site inspections and evaluate work to be completed, coordinator work with others, direct staff, and complete reports on maintenance provided and projects completed.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS :A Valid Commercial Driver License ( CDL ) is required to be obtained by your date of hire. Specific endorsements may be required to be obtained within (90) days of hire. External New Hires must meet the
City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.
COMMERCIAL DRIVER’S LICENSE :A job offer will be contingent on passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test and thereafter, complying with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing rules as outlined by the City of Austin Alcohol and Drug Policy for Drivers of Commercial Motor Vehicles.
SALARY RANGE:Min $27.41 - Mid $33.30
DAYS AND HOURS:40 hours per week, Monday - Thursday- (5:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.). This may require working outside of normal business hours as dictated by business needs or special work schedule requirements. In addition, the work schedule may change to a rotating shift during weather events.
Must be agreeable to accepting on-call assignments which might result in a call-back to work.
