    The City of Olathe is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Asset Manager to help shape the way we plan, maintain, and invest in our city’s infrastructure. In this role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage asset data, ensure accurate reporting, and support citywide asset management initiatives. Your work will include developing maintenance schedules, analyze performance metrics, and implement best practices to enhance the reliability, sustainability, and value of Olathe’s built assets.

    What You’ll Do:
    • Track and analyze asset conditions, maintenance needs, and performance using the City's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
    • Support the development of asset management plans to keep city infrastructure reliable and efficient.
    • Support data design, business processes, and data processing to support asset management functions.
    • Work on a wide range of projects with a variety of internal customer groups including: water, wastewater, stormwater, facilities and streets among others.

    Salary Range: $69,160 - $85,122, commensurate with experience and qualifications

    The Asset Manager collaborates with infrastructure teams and the asset management team to assist with maintenance planning, scheduling, and coordination for built infrastructure. They perform essential technical tasks requiring strong organizational and analytical skills, combined with proficiency in technology and reporting tools, to ensure accurate asset data. This role involves working with internal customers to support management practices, utilizing established asset management best practices. The position demands a comprehensive understanding of asset information structure and its application to managed assets. The Asset Manager supports various projects of different complexities and scales, receiving guidance from the Asset Manager Supervisor and Senior Asset Manager. The role also provides support and direction to the CMMS & Inventory Specialist as needed.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Completes all functions of the CMMS, including maintaining databases, work order systems, Key Performance Indicator reporting, and report generation; provide training and support to system users; assists in designing data structures, business processes, and data processing to support asset management functions.
    • Collaborates with stakeholders to coordinate, maintain, and improve asset datasets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with departmental goals; conducts regular meetings with division staff and Senior Managers to review data, identify issues, and test improvements.
    • Performs technical planning, scheduling, and coordination tasks supporting maintenance, repair, and construction of infrastructure systems, while contributing to citywide asset management initiatives; supports the development and implementation of Asset Management Plans, Condition Indexes, and end-of-life prediction models for major asset classes within the department’s jurisdiction.
    • Provides timely and courteous customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving service requests and complaints.


    Qualifications

    Experience:Three years of progressive experience in government operations, information management, asset and maintenance management of infrastructures, or a closely related field is required.

    Education:A bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study is required. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.

    Licenses & Certifications:A valid Driver’s License with a favorable driving record is required.

    Environmental or Physical Demands: Work is divided between office and field settings. Office responsibilities require long periods of sitting, computer use, and attending meetings. Field responsibilities may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain) and environmental elements such as dust, noise, and traffic. Occasional walking on uneven surfaces, extended standing, and navigating active work zones may be required. Must be capable of operating a motor vehicle to travel between work sites.
