    California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in the Inland Empire region of Southern California. Opened in 1965 and set at the foothills of the beautiful San Bernardino mountains, the university serves approximately 19,000 students.     JOB SUMMARY

    The School of Social Work at CSUSB invites applications for at least one, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning in August 2026. We seek faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, and who can contribute to our mission of preparing social workers to promote equity, inclusion, and social justice. As part of CSUSB’s commitment to inclusive excellence, we especially welcome candidates whose teaching, research, and service reflect diverse perspectives and who are dedicated to working with our diverse student body.

    Successful candidates will be able to teach across the social work curriculum at both the BASW and MSW levels and will be assigned to one of the following locations:
    • San Bernardino Campus
    • Palm Desert Campus

    TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

    Primary responsibilities include:
    • Teach courses primarily in person and possibly online at the San Bernardino and/or Palm Desert campus, as assigned.
    • Maintain an active and productive research agenda that contributes to the profession and aligns with the mission of the School.
    • Provide service to the School, University, and profession.
    • Engage with campus and community partners to support student learning, professional practice, and community well-being.

    Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • PhD degree required upon start of position (PhD in Social Work preferred

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Experience in teaching social work students at the BASW and MSW levels, in-person and online
    • Experience in scholarly research and publication
    • MSW degree and two years post-msw practice experience preferred
    • Experience teaching or working with diverse student populations

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

    Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.     The School of Social Work offers CSWE-accredited BASW and MSW degrees at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses, as well as a distance education MSW program, serving students across the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley.     Assistant Professor (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224

    Associate Professor (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523

    Professor (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
