POSITION Under close supervision, collect money for utilities, parking citations, business licenses, and other City payments.

TASKS - Collect money and balance cash drawer for utilities, parking citations, and business license payments;
- Records and posts the amount collected to customers’ accounts;
- Counts and verifies amounts being paid;
- Reconciles and balances cash drawer against cash register receipt;
- Prepares cash, credit, and other financial records and documentation;
- Forwards cash, credit, and other financial records for review and deposit by supervisor;
- Responds to customer inquiries and directs customers to the appropriate department for service.
QUALIFICATIONS A high school diploma or equivalent,
AND one (1) year of experience in customer service and cash handling in a business environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS - Knowledge of quality customer service techniques and concepts, bill payment and overdue payment procedures, bookkeeping techniques and principles, payment processing procedures, computer hardware, financial software, and ten-key adding machine;
- Skilled in gathering data for financial reports and record-keeping, accurately performing mathematical calculations, following oral and written instructions in English, and in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships;
- Ability to prioritize work and proper documentation techniques, perform essential duties with little supervision, and effectively communicate verbally and in writing;
- Proficient in using work-related computer applications, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, the internet, and other electronic devices to perform essential job duties.
THE SELECTION PROCESS Applicants whose experience best meets the city's needs will be invited to participate in the examination for this position. Candidates must have access to a computer with internet, video, and audio capabilities to participate in our examination process. The examination may consist of one or more of the following: (1) Training & Experience Evaluation, (2) Writing Exercise, and (3) Qualifications Appraisal Interview with a panel of subject matter experts. Candidates must receive a score of 70 or higher to have their names placed on the active eligibility list for one year.
