    The Position

    Within the Governor's Finance Office (GFO), Executive Branch Budget Officers develop, analyze and make recommendations on biennial budgets and expenditures for all executive budgets; analyze agency staffing ratios and historical data in relation to population growth, economic conditions, national trends and standards and other pertinent information; make evaluative judgments regarding the efficiency of agency operations, effectiveness in reaching established goals and objectives, organizational structure, and legislative intent; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.

    Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.

    The Governor's Finance Office (GFO) is seeking to fill an Executive Branch Budget Officer 2 in Carson City. This Executive Branch Budget Officer 2 position involves supervising two Executive Branch Budget Officer 1s and providing advanced-level expertise in budget development and oversight. The incumbent will lead the preparation and implementation of budgets for one or more state agencies, including developing expenditure projections, crafting narrative justifications for programs, and assembling detailed biennial spending plans. They will review and analyze budget requests and proposed adjustments to ensure alignment with fiscal policies, regulations, and limitations. In addition to monitoring assigned budget accounts, the incumbent will assist agencies in formulating budget requests and oversee budget execution to ensure compliance.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and six years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to an Executive Branch Budget Officer I in Nevada State service; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Services Officer III or Executive Branch Budget Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level.
