    The Position

    Custodial Workers perform general cleaning services to State facilities using various cleaning equipment and materials to provide a safe, hygienic and orderly work environment.

    The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Lakes Crossing Center (LCC), a maximum-security forensic facility/psychiatric hospital for mentally disordered offenders in Sparks, Nevada is recruiting for a custodial Worker II. Position Description: Custodial Worker II Basic duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning and maintenance of the following areas: Administrative areas and offices; secured areas and client rooms; carpets and hard floors; walls, windows, vents, ceilings, and light fixtures; trash pick-up and removal; and bio-hazard clean-up. Requires stamina to do physical work for an eight-hour shift, five days a week. This includes frequent walking and standing, and occasional sitting. The position requires physical flexibility for frequent bending and/or twisting at the waist; crouching, squatting, and kneeling; reaching forward; and repetitive movement of the hands, arms and fingers. An incumbent in this position must be able to climb ladders and perform duties at heights greater than ground level; have better than average grip strength; and perform duties requiring repetitive motion. Lifting requirements include frequent lifting of 0-50 lb. requires working indoors and outdoors where temperatures may be below 32 and above 100 degrees. Walking on uneven ground. Must be able to see objects at a distance and close up; differentiate between colors; have good depth perception. Hear conversations in both quiet and noisy environments; and hear differences among bells, buzzers, beeps and horns. Some duties include cleanup of bio-hazard materials such as blood and bodily waste which May be required to use gloves, masks, body suits, and goggles. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
