What's this Job All About? As an Accountant Auditor III, you’ll hold a senior and highly specialized accounting role-leading key audits, financial analyses, and managing critical programs. You’ll take ownership of the property tax section in the Auditor-Controller’s office, shaping its goals, procedures, and workflows. In this role, you’ll not only perform complex audits (including for special districts) and prepare financial reports, but also oversee indirect cost allocation, reconcile county bank operations, and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. You’ll supervise staff, liaise with external agencies, guide policy implementation, and act as a trusted financial advisor within the county’s accounting ecosystem.

COME WORK FOR THE COUNTY OF COLUSA: WE'RE WAITING FOR YOU! Supervision & Examples of Duties Supervision: Receives general direction from the Auditor-Controller and Assistant Auditor-Controller.
Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical and clerical staff.
Qualifications Experience and Training Guidelines -- Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible professional financial experience, including two years of supervisory responsibility. Experience in property taxes is preferred.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration or a related field.
Supplemental InformationThe salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
