The City of Olathe is seeking a Court Services Officer to manage low-risk diversion and probation caseloads for the Olathe Municipal Court and City Prosecutor’s Office.     Pay Range: $26.00 to $30.14 per hour, depending on qualifications.

    The Court Services Officer I is responsible for monitoring an assigned caseload of diversion and probation clients under the jurisdiction of the Olathe Municipal Court and the Olathe City Prosecutor's Office. This position is part of a two-level career progression of Court Services Officer I and II.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Monitors a high volume of low-risk diversion and/or probation cases; completes client orientations; ensures client compliance with payment orders, treatment/educational classes, and mental health services; investigates violations and prepares appropriate reports for revocation; attends required dockets with case updates; utilizes other client sanctions appropriately.
    • Documents and maintains up-to-date monitoring records; reviews records for completion and compliance; maintains client files according to file retention policies.
    • Maintains knowledge of commonly used service providers and community resources; appropriately refers defendants to supportive programs, treatment, and rehabilitative services.


    Qualifications

    Experience: One year of experience in the criminal justice field is preferred. Must have strong attention to detail, good technical/computer skills, and the ability to multi-task. The job requires the ability to work collaboratively as a team and independently while remaining calm in stressful situations.

    Education: A bachelor's degree with major course work in psychology, social work, criminal justice or a related field is required. Equivalent experience in a directly relevant area may be substituted for education.

    Licenses & Certifications: None

    Language: Proficiency with verbal and written English language is required along with good communication skills. Additional proficiency with Spanish and American Sign Language is preferred.
