THE POSITION

Please note that the job posting may close without prior notice. - Enforces parking regulations by foot and vehicle patrols.
- Issues parking and municipal code citations and testifies in court.
- Assists in the identification and removal of abandoned or illegally parked vehicles.
- May arrange for towing and impounding of vehicles for unpaid parking tickets.
- Observes and impounds reported stolen or wanted vehicles, reports inoperative traffic signals and parking meters, inadequate street and parking zone painting.
- Ensures that parking enforcement vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and utilized.
- Assist with traffic control and crossing guard duties.
- May report to minor non-injury traffic collisions to facilitate the exchange of documents between the parties involved and clear the road.
- Mitigate situations. Be able to make decisions and identify when additional assistance is required.
- Communicate through police radio using police codes and terminology.
- Performs other related duties.
Minimum Requirements: High school graduation or equivalent and some experience involving public contact.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid California Class "C" driver license.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURESApplicants must receive a passing score on all examination components to be placed on the eligible list.
Examination Components - WRITTEN TEST (Qualifying) : To measure reading comprehension and reasoning ability. (Tentatively scheduled for the week of October 28, 2025).
- ORAL APPRAISAL INTERVIEW (Weighted at 100%) : To evaluate ability and skill requirements and personal qualifications. (Tentatively scheduled for the week of November 18, 2025).
- BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION AND POLYGRAPH (Qualifying) : Evaluations to determine suitability for the position of Parking Enforcement Officer.
- PSYCHOLOGICAL SCREENING AND MEDICAL EXAMINATION (Qualifying) : Evaluations to determine suitability for the position of Parking Enforcement Officer.
