    The Position

    Classes in this series serve as line department personnel function officers. Incumbents in this series plan, organize and administer a comprehensive personnel services program including employee relations, selection, classification coordination, position control, evaluation, training, payroll and other related areas. Personnel Officers supervise the work of other personnel staff.

    The Department of Business and Industry is recruiting to fill a Personnel Officer 2 position in Carson City. This position oversees all personnel and payroll functions for the Department of Business & Industry. This role develops and updates HR policies, ensures compliance with employment laws (NRS, NAC, ADA, FLSA, FMLA), and manages position control and classification processes. It supports recruitment, hiring, and compensation strategies, including accelerated salaries and auto progressions while preparing monthly reports on vacancies, leave, training, and onboarding. The position handles disciplinary actions and grievance responses, coordinates with the Attorney General's Office, and represents the department in hearings and EMC meetings. Additionally, the incumbent supervises HR operations across divisions, leads special projects, and ensures staff meet mandatory training requirements; working closely with the Division of Human Resource Management and agency HR teams.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business, public administration or related area and four years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience, including one year of personnel program management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
