The Position Personnel Technicians perform a wide variety of personnel activities including personnel records processing, recruitment and examining, new hire orientation, list certification, and payroll support duties.
The Department of Business and Industry is seeking a qualified Personnel Technician 3 to join it's team in Carson City. This dynamic role involves supporting a wide range of human resources functions, including drafting job announcements, evaluating applicants, and managing recruitment efforts. The incumbent will serve as a key point of contact for candidates and collaborate closely with the Personnel Officer to resolve concerns. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate personnel and payroll records, auditing files, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. The position oversees leave programs such as FMLA, Paid Family Leave, and Catastrophic Leave while also supporting onboarding, conducting orientations and providing guidance on pay, benefits, and policies. Additional duties include tracking training compliance, assisting in the development of Work Performance Standards, and responding to HR and payroll inquiries. Complex issues are referred to the Personnel Officer for resolution.

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of technical personnel/payroll experience which included researching information, applying rules and regulations, and problem solving in areas such as recruitment and examining, payroll, interviewing and selection, and other related personnel/payroll functions; OR one year of experience as a Personnel Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
