    The Position

    Positions in this series supervise professional engineering associates, technical engineering staff, and/or engineering students; direct activities of assigned staff, organize personnel, equipment and materials, and delegate assignments; evaluate the performance of employees according to established policies and work performance standards; ensure accurate and timely completion of work assignments; and provide guidance and training.

    Under the direct supervision of a Manager I, Professional Engineer (Resident Engineer), performs administrative and highway construction engineering work. Duties include coordinating, planning, directing and supervising activities on assigned projects in the area of surveying, inspection, construction office procedures, and materials testing to ensure compliance to contract plans and specifications, and State and Federal rules and regulations. The eligible list established form this recruitment may be used to underfill the Supervisor III, Construction position. The incumbent in this position may progress to the Supervisor III level upon meeting the minimum qualifications, with satisfactory performance and the approval of the appointing authority.

    This position is located within the Scheduling & Estimating Section of the Roadway Design Division, Carson City, NV. This position manages and administers the Department's project scheduling and management system, including monitoring project information for accuracy, consistency and compliance. In addition this position also oversees the review of and making adjustments to Engineer's Estimates in the cost estimation and e-bidding system; managing the Department's 5 Year Plan of projects and making project recommendations based on prioritization, funding and schedule; and establishing, tracking, analyzing data and reporting on the Department's performance related to project delivery and cost estimating criteria.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR certified as an Engineering Intern and two years of professional engineering experience; OR two years of experience comparable to the Staff I, Associate Engineer or the Supervisor I, Associate Engineer level. Special Notes Employees in this class who are not licensed professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities. Special Requirements This position requires a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
